 Recreation Therapy, also known as Therapeutic Recreation, is a vital component of care at Valley View Rehab & Nursing Center. Its primary purpose is to enhance residents’ physical, cognitive, emotional, and social well-being through structured and meaningful activities.  By addressing individual interests and abilities, recreation therapy promotes quality of life and supports the overall care plan. 

 Promote Independence: Encourage residents to maintain or improve their ability to perform daily tasks through engaging, goal-oriented activities.

· Enhance Cognitive Function: Stimulate memory, attention, and problem-solving through activities such as games, discussion groups, or reminiscence therapy.

· Support Emotional Well-Being: Provide outlets for self-expression, stress reduction, and enjoyment through music, art, and leisure pursuits.

· Foster Social Engagement: Prevent isolation and loneliness by creating opportunities for group interaction, celebrations, and community involvement.

· Encourage Physical Health: Support mobility, coordination, and strength with exercise groups, movement activities, and adapted sports.

 Creative Arts: Painting, crafts, music, dance, and drama.

· Cognitive Activities: Trivia, word games, puzzles, current events discussions, and life story sharing.

· Physical Activities: Stretching, Gardening.

· Social and Spiritual Activities: Group outings, holiday events, and religious services.

• · Individualized Programming: Tailored one-on-one sessions for residents with advanced dementia, physical limitations, or unique personal interests
